Japanese American Citizens League
Video creation + photography + social media strategy for the largest Asian American civil rights organization in the United States.
The Japanese American Citizens League hosts an intercultural exchange program every quarter, a fellowship by which Asian American undergraduate and graduate leaders travel to Japan to learn about the culture, politics, and opportunities that exist between the U.S. and Japan. JACL desired to put the Kakehashi Fellowship in front of more people, engaging with communities between the ages of 18 and 30 via mobile and web. In order to reach these communities, we developed a hashtag campaign for the Kakehashi Fellowship on Instagram, and promoted all fellowship Participants to post to social media throughout each trip. Lastly, I embarked on one of the fellowship programs with my camera and computer, collecting photographs of the diverse components of the program and creating a short-form and long-form video for web and social media platforms.
